Ice Cream Diet

The Ice Cream Diet is a result of our fast paced modern lifestyle. We want what we want, and we want it now. ‘The Ice Cream Diet’ book was written by Ms. Holly McCord, who also penned ‘The Peanut Butter Diet.’ According to the internet Diet Blog, ‘Uma Thurman says she lost 25 pounds before starring in Kill Bill by stuffing herself with chocolate ice cream and pudding’ It states she said, ‘I ate whatever desserts I like because I did not eat anything else.’ It is plausible that if you had a bowl of ice cream a day and nothing else, you would lose weight. This however, is not the premise of this diet.
According to an article in Prevention, ice cream dieters are to consume 1500 calories for women and 2000 for men. This includes one cup of low-fat or sugarless ice cream for women and one and a half cups for men. This ice cream however, must be within your caloric intake for the day. This is supposed to help you lose two pounds a week.
The theory is that including ice cream in your diet helps melt fat. Since many people do not like to drink milk, the ice cream basically serves as a calcium supplement. Supporters also propose other benefits, including strengthening your bones from the calcium; increasing your immunity; decreasing blood pressure; relieving PMS symptoms; decreasing the risk of a stroke; and the prevention of kidney stones.
Unfortunately, the only valid claim here is that incorporating calcium into your diet can help strengthen your bones, along with weight bearing exercise. Their claim that the diet decreases the occurrence of kidney stones is absurd. Some types of kidney stones are caused by dietary calcium. Literally, the stone is made of calcium deposits. With no empirical evidence, the Ice Cream Diets claims are simply untrue.
I have not seen any dietary menus for this plan, but it is supposed to incorporate high fiber, vegetables, and regular exercise. If you are interested in knowing specifics, you will have to find the book.
You can get the recommended amount of dietary calcium by taking a couple of Tums a day. Tums does not advertise false benefits and is a lot lower in calories than ice cream. Further, low-cal, sugar free or low-fat ice cream has no greater nutritional value than regular ice cream, so why not eat the real thing?
Who is Ms. Holly McCord?’ Is she a nutritional expert or dietitian?’ Probably not, but nothing is really known about her. More than likely, her goal is to make money from desperate men and women ready to try anything that promises big rewards for little work.
The real recipe for true long-lasting fat loss is to decrease you caloric intake without cutting out any major food group, and to rev up your exercise program. It does take time to plan and prepare healthy meals with all the appropriate nutrients, so for many people it becomes a bother and they quit. The Ice Cream Diet may be appealing to these people, but in the long run the extra pounds will only come right back.
