Three Hour Diet

fad diets why are they bad

The Three Hour Diet is a misnomer if taken only on title.  The ‘three hour’ simply means you eat every three hours. It was invented by Jorge Cruise, now the author of The 3-Hour-Diet.  This premise is based on the theory that stabilizing the bodys glucose level will increase your metabolism and control your appetite.  The plan also cuts sugar, fat, and carbs, although you can still have tiny amounts of these.

Beyond their claim that you will lose two pounds a week, they promise to get rid of that old spare tire, your belly. They also claim to decrease your cortisol level by 17%.  Cortisol is a hormone produced in the body that is supposed to control stress. According to their web page, the diet will also improve your mood and keep you full of energy throughout the day.  The web site has the usual testimonials and some celebrity endorsements.  It really does not reveal much about the diet itself.

Many of their diet tips are not exposed because you must become a paying member (five dollars a week), and purchase a book for twenty-five dollars before anything is revealed.  They used to sell meals for the entire week, but evidence of that being current cannot be found. Jorge himself is supposed to coach all the dieting members personally, and that is a tall order for one person.

The free information does say that you eat six tiny meals a day and it targets the fat around your waist. The main focus to the diet seems to be the tiny portions, totaling approximately 1450 calories a day.  That is near starvation levels. It takes at least 1200 calories just to breathe and sit still all day.

Mr. Cruise has also developed eight minute exercise routines to go with the diet.  If you did only eight minutes of exercise it would not increase your metabolism or weight loss. Anybody may grab a diet that says you only have to exercise eight minutes every morning, but most will be disappointed with the end results.

Mr. Cruise is a creative marketer.  He is a slim, fit, and handsome man on the cover of his book and on the website.  Along with his books, he sells many fitness related DVDs. The truth is he does not care about your weight or your health.  It is another tactic to rob desperate obese people of their money.  This is another diet that lures people in to a quick weight loss system, not telling them that the weight will more than likely be regained.  We have all heard that yo-yo dieting is not good for our bodies. It does not work in the long run and it does not change poor eating habits.

The fact is, your body needs carbohydrates, fats, and even sugar for satiety and health.  Who has time to plan and nibble on six meals a day?  This book adds nothing new to the diet industry and just rips people off.  The words ‘fad” and ‘bad’ should be synonymous with the 3-Hour Diet.

Fad diets claim to be scientifically studied, but where are the results and what is the validity of there testing? The truth is fad diets may produce no permanent weight loss at all and can make the body nutritionally imbalanced.  Medical consultation should always be considered before starting any diet.

The Three Hour Diet is just one of the most popular fad diet, to go back to the main page click here, popular fad diets.
